Allison Boccia Williams is the new Music Associate at West End. Her primary duties are working with the Youth and Children’s Choirs. She also serves as accompanist, assistant conductor, and organist where needed.
Ms. Williams was born in Evansville, Indiana and grew up in LaPlata, MD. She attended Concordia College in Bronxville, New York, where she graduated with honors with a B.S. in Music Education. After college, Ms. Williams returned to the D.C. area where she taught for 2 years in a Lutheran School in Arlington, VA. In 1984, she received a Master’s degree in Music Education at the Catholic University of America. While residing in the D.C. area, she taught elementary music for 7 years in Waldorf, MD before moving to the Chicago area. Ms. Williams taught middle school music for 27 years in Crystal Lake, IL.
While teaching in IL, Allison was the Director of Music, organist, choir accompanist, and director of children’s choirs at Bethany Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake, IL. She also started the first handbell choir and global music drum ministry. For 3 years, she was a member of the organ task force for the new Hal Gober tracker pipe organ that was installed in 2002. After the arrival of the new organ, Ms. Williams was a founding member of the Bethany Arts series which is now in its 15th season.
In 2009, Ms. Williams graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Performer’s Certificate in organ. From 2012-2015, Ms. Williams taught piano and organ at McHenry County College until retiring from public school teaching in 2015.
After retirement, Ms. Williams moved to Hendersonville where she resides with her husband, Anthony Williams, who is also an organist. She has one son, Alex, who lives in Colorado but will soon be moving to Nashville. Allison is excited to be a part of the phenomenal music program at West End!
