Pancake Supper and Jazz Mass
Enjoy a unique worship opportunity, preceded by the fun of a pancake supper, complete with beads, masks and other Mardi Gras trimmings.
Make plans to attend a Mardi Gras style Jazz Mass on Shrove Tuesday, February 21 in the Sanctuary at 7 p.m. This festive celebration of Holy Communion is framed in a jazz setting, with a jazz band, a Mardi Gras style processional, hymns, soloists from the recording industry and vocal interpretations of the traditional text. Join us in this final celebration for Christians before the Lenten season begins the next day. Childcare will be provided for children through age 4 for this service.
In conjuntion with the Jazz Mass, the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, sponsored by the Senior Adult Council will precede the celebration in McWhirter Hall at 5 p.m. Pancake specialists from Blackman United Methodist Church will have the grills hot and will be serving gourmet pancakes and sausage. Additional grills and tables will ensure that the large crowds will enjoy the fare.
Advance ticket sales are encouraged as a large crowd is expected. Get your tickets online by clicking here, or tickets will also be sold on February 12 and 19 in Reed Hall. There will also be tickets available at the door on Shrove Tuesday. If you are not planning to pre-purchase your ticket, please contact Lois Anderson 615.321.8500 or landerson@westendumc.org to make reservations to help with planning.
