On January 31, our congregation commissioned nearly 40 people to the work of Andrew Ministry. Andrew Ministry is named for the Apostle Andrew, who was one of the first evangelists, bringing his brother, Simon Peter, to meet Jesus after Andrew’s own conversion. Andrew Ministers serve in that same way, helping others connect with Jesus through the ministries of West End. While all Christians are called to the work of hospitality to the stranger, Andrew Ministers are specifically called to be on the look-out for guests and new members, to help them feel welcome, and to help them connect with opportunities for spiritual growth, service, care, and community.
You may have already seen our Andrew Ministers at work. They have blue name tags, and are stationed around the church on Sunday mornings. They welcome people to our church, answer questions, and help those who are new to the church find their way around the building. They also follow up with visitors and new members, and act as a resource to them as they seek to make connections within the congregation.
If you have the gifts of hospitality and service, we’d love to have you on our Andrew Ministry team! Most Andrew Ministers serve one Sunday per month or less, as well as at occasional special services and events. Training is provided.
