Weekday Preschool Recieves Highest Rating Awarded by State

We have good news to share! West End Weekday Preschool Ministries, which is composed of the Day School and Playschool programs, has received notice of accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and a 3 Star Report Card from the State of Tennessee, the highest rating awarded by the State. Both the Day School and the Playschool have been accredited individually in previous years; the uniqueness of this accreditation is that both programs are accredited under the same name, Weekday Preschool Ministries.
The NAEYC accreditation is based on meeting the ten standards of high quality early childhood education:
- Play/Day School Promote positive relationships for all children and adults to encourage each child’s sense of individual self worth.
- Implement a curriculum that fosters all areas of child development; cognitive, emotional, language, physical, and social.
- Use developmentally, culturally, and linguistically appropriate and effective teaching approaches.
- Provide ongoing assessments of a child’s learning and development and communicate the child’s progress to the family.
- Promote the nutrition and health of children and protect children and staff from injury and illness.
- Employ a teaching staff that has the educational qualifications, knowledge, ad professional commitment necessary to promote child’s learning and development and to support families’ diverse needs and interests.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with each child’s family.
- Establish relationships with and use the resources of the community to support the achievement of program goals.
- Provide a safe and healthy physical environment.
- Implement strong personnel, fiscal, and program management policies so that all children, families, and staff have high-quality experiences.
Play/Day SchoolThe Tennessee 3 Star Report Card evaluates a program in seven areas: director qualifications, professional development, compliance history, parent/family involvement, ratio and group sizes, staff compensation, and program assessment.
These two accomplishments are validation of the focus, determination, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and dedication of our teachers, administration, parents, and committee members to provide the best environment and learning experiences for each child. Congratulations to us all!!
