West End United Methodist Church

2017 Adult Summer Sunday School

In this 8-week summer series, local author and educator Michael McRay will explore the historical roots, contested theology, and current realities of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Drawing on his family’s 50-year involvement, his 10 personal trips, and academic research, McRay will pull back the curtain on one of the most complex conflicts in history, engaging questions like: What actually is happening? How did it get this bad? Is there any chance of peace? Does the land belong to the Jews? What might Jesus have us do?

Michael McRay (MPhil, Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation) has made 10 trips to Israel-Palestine, including three months in 2012 with Christian Peacemaker Teams in Hebron, about which he wrote his first book Letters from “Apartheid Street”. He teaches and speaks regularly on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in churches around Nashville and at Lipscomb University.
