West End United Methodist Church

Children's Choir Musical Safari

Parents and Children are invited to explore the Children’s Choir program together on Wednesday, August 27 at 6 p.m. as we kick- off the year with a musical safari. Now it may not involve lions, and tigers, and bears (“Oh my!”), but you may discover something about music at West End that you didn’t already know. For instance:

  • Have you met Matt Phelps, our incoming Minister of Music?
  • Ever heard of a vocal vibe?
  • Do you know what a djembe is? (We have 8 of them!)
  • What are boomwhackers?
  • Have you ever seen our pipe organ up close? (It’s the largest in TN!)

We hope you are curious to find the answers to these questions as well as others on August 27.

More about Children’s Choirs at West End:
WHO: Children’s Choirs are for children 4 yrs through 6th grade.
WHAT: We learn music for worship and sing on Sundays multiple times each season.
WHERE: The safari will cover lots of areas in the building.  Regular rehearsals are on the 4th Floor each Wednesday.
WHEN: We rehearse Wednesdays, 6-7 p.m.; Dinner is in McWhirter Hall, 5-6 p.m.
WHY: Every child’s voice is a gift, and the words they learn to sing will be with them throughout their lives strengthening the foundation of their faith.
