Be Careful What You Ask For

Speakers:Carol Cavin-Dillon
Topics:Children's moment, Sermon, Sunday service
This is the second in a summer series looking at passages in 1 and 2 Samuel. In this passage, the people come to Samuel to ask that he step aside and give them a king, like all the other people. God tells Samuel it is not a rejection of Samuel, but of God, and God is going to let the people have their king, but not without Samuel’s warnings of the downside of having a king. In our own lives as individuals, but also in our collective lives as a church, we are sometimes attracted to some leader or source that is not God. God will grant us leave to follow that attraction, but those diversions are never wise.
