This service always begins at 10:30 PM, with music beginning at 10:00 o'clock. It is a full-length communion service, built around the birth narrative in the gospel of Luke, ending with the lighting of the Christ candle and the changing of the paraments from the purple of Advent to the white of Christmas, followed by the recessional hymn, "Joy to the World." In his communion meditation, Michael tells the powerful story of the carol, Silent Night, Holy Night.
