The Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir, an ensemble of 65 voices, rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7:15-9:15 p.m. and sings at the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service. The group also presents concerts throughout the year. Their concerts have been recognized by the Nashville Scene for their excellence. Of the choir’s 2017 performance of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, local music critic Walter Bitner wrote, “For nearly 90 minutes in muted light filtered through stained glass windows, I heard Sebastian’s marvelous and inspired music as close to the way he conceived it as I will hear it live all season, as I will have heard it all year. It was glorious.”
An internationally renowned ensemble, the Chancel Choir has made nine tours to Europe as part of the church's ministry since 1986. The Chancel Choir will be singing for the 2020 Regional Convention of the American Choral Directors’ Association in Mobile, AL; marking the second time they have been invited to perform for ACDA. They have also sung at conventions of the American Guild of Organists and the Fellowship of United Methodist Musicians.
