Events Missions & Outreach Guatemala Mission Trip

– Sunday, May 6th, 2012 · 8:00am (add to calendar)

Where are we going?  Guatemala, in the villages of San Juan La Laguna, San Pablo La Laguna, and surrounding rural areas on the shores of Lake Atitlan
When are we going?  April 28 - May 6, 2012
Who is our host?  JoAn Dwyer (United Methodist Volunteer in Mission) and ODIM (Organization for the Development of the Indigenous Maya).  ODIM is a small group of volunteers and paid local staff working at the grassroots level in the villages on the shores of Lake Atitlan. Since 2005, ODIM’s programs have evolved from disaster recovery to programs focused on education and health.
What kind of work will we do?  Depending on team size and makeup, we will work in a health clinic and/or help construct a home.
Who should volunteer?  Anyone!  We need medical and non-medical volunteers.  Medical volunteers may include dentists, gynecologists, pediatricians, registered nurses, pharmacists, chiropractors...any specialty would be great to have!  Non-medical volunteers may work on a construction project or assist in the medical clinic.
Want to know more?  Informational meetings will be held in Room 208 on the following dates/times: Sunday, November 13 at 9:45 a.m. and 12 p.m., Wednesday, November 30 at 5:45 p.m.  The registration deadline is February 15.
