RITI Closets Need Restocking

On behalf of Jesus and nearly 250 homeless men, thank you for every task, large or small that was done in our Room in the Inn (RITI) season, now ended. Twenty-three delicious hot meals were prepared for suppers and the same number of breakfasts ...  250 lunches were sent as the men went back on the streets .... Likewise beds for each of these sleepy heads were made and unknown conversations with the men plus unspoken prayers for the men were offered. There was even an extra night offered during icy days of this very cold winter.   Many dollars were spent supplying needs ... that resource was from generous donations by our church family.

The season ended with a productive organizing and some cleaning of the Lower Level spaces used in this ministry.   One area needing attention emerged from this “great day of service”: The clothing closet is very bare!  The following items are needed as you clean out your men’s winter clothing:

  • Shoes of any size and any wearable condition, work boots are greatly needed! (well used shoes are welcome)
  • Warm jackets
  • Sweat shirts and sweat pants
  • Jeans (well used but wearable, are welcome)
  • Underwear
  • T-shirts
  • Socks
  • Gloves

All donations may be left in the closet in the Lower Level kitchen (which is open almost any time the church is open).  If several items are available for donation, call the coordinators (Kay Gray, 615.545.6987 or Buddy DeFord, 615.545.6062) who can arrange to have them picked up.

It is miraculous what happens through this RITI ministry. Sign ups for next year will begin in September and being present on a Wednesday night blesses the volunteers as much as the guests. Thank you again for every act of love given though this RITI ministry.
