Farewell Tribute for Dr. David Watson - Sunday February 7th, 2010
The Farewell Tribute for Dr. Watson has been rescheduled for the Sunday school hour on Sunday, February 7.
Please join us for a musical tribute to Dr. David Watson on his last Sunday as senior minister.
The Chancel and Sanctuary Choirs will join forces between services on Sunday, February 7th, in a farewell tribute that includes the iconic British anthem “I Was Glad” by C. Hubert Perry. In addition to the anthem, Jonathan Carle will sing the solo “The Call” by Ralph Vaughan Williams.
The program will conclude with the congregation joining the choirs in singing one of Charles Wesley’s most famous hymns, “Love Divine, All Loves Excelling,” but with a twist—the hymn is set to a new tune from the United Kingdom.
The choral program will begin at 9:50 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Afterwards, the congregation is invited to visit with Dr. Watson at a reception in Reed Hall.
In addition to the musical tribute, the farewell will include a monetary gift to Dr. Watson from the congregation in appreciation for his dedication and leadership of our church. If you would like to contribute to the gift, please make your check out to West End United Methodist Church and note in the memo line of your check that it is for "Dr. Watson retirement."
The morning promises to be a festive and fun tribute, fitting for one who has done so much for our church. We look forward to everyone joining in the celebration.
Thank you,
LaVoe Mulgrew, Ministry Table Chair
