It’s Our Turn

Generations have passed along a beautiful church building to us.  We’ve all heard stories of the sacrifices families made to fund its construction during the Great Depression.  With the privilege of worshipping in a grand place such as West End comes the responsibility to care for it.
The neglect you see when you look around the building illuminates a lack of funds but certainly not a lack of caring.  Deferred maintenance is heaping up while we pay for recent chiller and fire protection projects.  Sometime ahead, we can expect a capital campaign for major renovations to the church.  In the meantime, the Repair, Renovate, Remodel  Series is designed to complete smaller projects.
One project at a time, as the funds are raised, we plan to repair, renovate and remodel

  • The plaster damage in the sanctuary
  • McWhirter Hall restrooms
  • First floor entry
  • Restrooms on upper floors
  • Interior Signage
  • Kitchenettes
  • Outdoor Sign

Your regular pledge giving is still needed – the Repair Series asks for you to give “over and above” for something you care about.  Budgets will be published for each project so that you can see what your pledge will cover.  Whether you pledge enough for a new light fixture or a whole bathroom, your gift is needed and appreciated.
