The kitchenettes would get a lot more use if they worked! On the third floor, they’ve traditionally been used for staff lunch preparation and cleanup, coffee making and for members and staff to share treats. The fourth floor kitchenette is needed for children’s snacks and some craft project preparations.

Condition:  The kitchenettes on the third and fourth floors are dated and the plumbing requires repair.

Solution:  The kitchenettes will get a makeover, the refrigerator/stove units will be removed, and the plumbing will be repaired.  They will undergo a facelift much like the kitchenette in the mailroom next to Reed Hall received last year.

Cost: $6,300

Your Contribution:  Please prayerfully consider how you can help above and beyond your normal pledge giving  to repair our beautiful church building. See the reverse side of this flyer for the project budget.  Your gift will make a difference.

Project Estimate:
Plumbing – $1,600
Sinks and faucets – $980
Carpentry – $1,960
Hardware – $290
Countertops – $920
Painting – $550
TOTAL $6,300

Project #4
Fourth Floor Restroom Remodel
The contractor has been hired, and work will begin in March.

Our young people spend a lot of time on the fourth floor, even if many adults don’t.  In the restrooms, where there were once radiators and sinks, now pipe stubs protrude from the floor and walls. The girls’ restroom lost one of its two sinks in an accident some time ago.

Condition: The fourth floor restrooms are in disrepair.  A number of updates over the years have compromised the functionality and appearance of the facilities.

Solution:  Both restrooms will be remodeled to meet current codes, with an eye toward functionality and accessibility.

Cost: $68,600

Your Contribution:  Please prayerfully consider how you can help above and beyond your normal pledge giving to repair our beautiful church building. Your gift will make a difference.

Project estimate:
(All figures include proportionate share of general requirements, permits, fees, general conditions and contingency and include the cost for both restrooms on the fourth floor.)

Tile – $20,700
Walls, ceilings and paint – $8,900
Toilet partitions – $10,800

Update on #1

Project #1 Sanctuary Plaster Repair
Fundraising for the $31,800 project is complete, materials have been ordered, and work is underway on the related project in the narthex.

Most members and visitors to West End enter through the “magic doors” on the first floor.  You’ve probably noticed some recent updates that make this lobby more appealing and hospitable. Now, we would like to complete the project.

Condition:  There are several pieces of furniture that need to be updated to make this area more welcoming.

Solution:  The Hospitality Committee has coordinated with the Building Committee to specify new paint, some new furniture and better communications equipment.

Cost:  $10,200

Your Contribution:  Please prayerfully consider how you can help above and beyond your normal pledge giving to update our beautiful church building.  Your gift will make a difference.

Project Estimate:

  • Paint below chair rail – $500
  • Trash receptacle – $150
  • Six chairs at front entrance – $1,800
  • Two chairs flanking chest of drawers – $1,600
  • Area rugs and runners – $1,400
  • DVD player and flat screen TV, plus electrical – $1,300

New Restrooms Are Coming!

We have surpassed our goal for #2! New restrooms in McWhirter Hall will now be a reality! The surplus will go on to Project #3, which you will find out about soon!

Watch for more updates and renovation pics soon!

#2 – Close To Our Goal

We are closer to our goal of $68,220 to remodel the restrooms in McWhirter Hall. As of Monday, July 12, we need $13,629 to start the renovation.

Give now to this project!

McWhirter Hall has new flooring, but the restrooms fail to reflect the hospitable nature of our church. Anyone who has taken a peek into the men’s restroom knows the unpleasant truth: it is really a mechanical room with toilet facilities.

Condition: The restrooms are in disrepair and are not properly equipped for handicapped individuals.

Solution: The storage room by the entrance to McWhirter Hall will be converted to a new men’s restroom. This location provides better access for new plumbing, so the men will have an all new restroom for less money than it would take to bring the existing restroom up to date. The women’s room will get a facelift: new fixtures and finishes. Both will be made more accessible.

Cost: $68,220

Your Contribution: Please prayerfully consider how you can help above and beyond your normal pledge giving to repair our beautiful church building. See the reverse side of this flyer for the project budget. Your gift will make a difference.
