Room In The Inn - Overnight Hosts Needed
We are gearing up for the 2021-2022 Room in the Inn Season! Like last year, we'll be hosting on site at the Room in the Inn Campus for Human Development (705 Drexel Avenue). We will be asking for food donations soon, but first we need to recruit overnight hosts. Overnight hosts arrive at the inn as close to 5:30 PM as possible, are available to help the guests with any needs they have overnight and then wake up early to put out breakfast bags and make coffee. Most nights hosts are able to get back to their homes by 6:30 a.m. to shower and get ready for work. If you are vaccinated and interested in serving as an overnight host or a once a month host, please email Stacey at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Have You Signed Up for Habitat 2021 Yet?
We are joining forces with Methodists from across the Methodist family this year. Every day of the Methodist build is open to every Methodist church in the build. We are particularly looking for more volunteers on October 9 and October 17. All dates have serious volunteer needs, though, so find what works for you. Sign up at westendumc.org/habitat. On the lefthand side of the volunteer sign up webpage, you'll see the steps Habitat has committed to for keeping everyone as safe as possible, knowing that COVID-19 cases are still rising.
Quiet Place Volunteers Needed
We are in the process of thinking through how to best provide hospitality for our neighbors experiencing homelessness. We'd like to set up a hospitality space on the lower level of our building to provide water, snacks, coffee, a phone, and a place to take a break from being outside for a bit. We need to have 10 teams of two volunteers to host this space for 4 hours either in the morning or in the afternoon. Volunteers will be trained in how to navigate the resources and de-escalate conflict. If you are interested in this specialized ministry that allows us to offer more hospitality to our neighbors, please email Stacey at email@example.com
