West End United Methodist Church

West End Block Party

The church picnic is getting a makeover!

For many years, Buster and Cathy Shull have graciously offered their beautiful backyard for our church picnics.  In addition, Charlie Potter kindly donated the use of a Port-a-John for the occasion, and for the past few years, Aaron Dale has provided tables and chairs.  We are incredibly grateful for these members’ generosity and willingness to give of themselves for this event.

As the neighborhood around the church has grown, the Hospitality Team has been in prayer about how we can be more visible in our community.  As a result of that discernment, we have made the decision to move the picnic to the church lawn.  Our hope is that some of our neighbors might join us for the fun and fellowship!

This year, you are invited to bring a picnic dinner, or there will be Food Trucks on hand so that you can purchase food.  As in years past, we will have some tables and chairs on the lawn, but you’re also encouraged to bring a blanket or camp chairs if you’re able.  We’ll have water games for kids (bring water shoes and a towel!), and the same wonderful fellowship of years past.  And, back by popular demand, we’ll have a dunk tank to raise money for our Habitat for Humanity build.  Bring a donation, and try to dunk one of our pastors!

So, mark your calendars, and invite a friend or two to come along! We will need volunteers to help with set-up and tear down.  If you’re able to help, please contact Jennifer Reynolds at jen.u.reynolds@gmail.com or 404.314.4505.
