West End United Methodist Church

Blossoms, Birds, and Bothers

Speakers:Brandon Baxter
Topics:Children's moment, Sermon, Sunday service

We continue our series on the Sermon on the Mount with a familiar passage in which Jesus bids the people not to worry about what to eat or drink or wear.  This comes at a time when we have experienced devastating tornados, a virus that is causing us to modify our lives radically, economic fallout from those things, and a potential split in the United Methodist Church.  And we’re being told not to worry?  What if the examples of the lilies of the field and the sparrows are meant to reorient our focus instead?   (NOTE: We usually post the 11 o’clock service, but with the COVID-19 threat we are having only the 8:45 service today, with no one in the congregation, so that is the service we are posting.  NOTE:  Although the video begins with the Children’s Moment, once it starts you can scroll back to the beginning of the service if you want.  The video of the entire service is available to watch.)
