Christmas Eve Family Service 2022

Speakers:Rev. Dr. Carol Cavin-Dillon
Topics:Sunday service

This is the first of two Christmas Eve Services each year, this early service focused on the family, especially with children.  Several older children are liturgists for the evening.  Children are encouraged to dress as characters from the nativity stories:  animals, shepherds, angels, magi.  They follow a star to the chancel area where they hear that nativity story and are asked to participate.  Then at the appropriate moment Mary, Joseph, and the baby come forward (a couple of our members with their newborn infant), and the costumed children are invited to greet them.  Throughout the service, we sing carols at the appropriate times for their participation in the Nativity story.  It is also a communion service, with the appropriate liturgy and communion served at the chancel rail.    (NOTE: Reflecting the importance of the Word, the video begins with the scripture, but once it starts you can scroll back to the beginning of the service if you want.  The entire service is videoed.)
