West End United Methodist Church

Encounter Service of Prayer and Presence, October 19, 2022

Speakers:Rev. Dr. Carol Cavin-Dillon
Topics:Encounter Service of Prayer and Presence

This is the seventh of the Encounter Worship Series, a mid-week service of  “prayer and presence,” taking place in conjunction with West End’s Wednesday evening dinner and programming.  The theme for the current series is “Healing.”   Senior Pastor, the Rev. Carol Cavin-Dillon, leads the service this evening, and Matthew Phelps, West End’s Minister of Music, is the music leader.  The text from 1 Kings is about a piece of Elijah’s life wherein he is scared and fleeing for his life with King Ahab and his wife, Jezebel, wanting to kill him.  He asks to die.  The story is the interaction between God and Elijah.  Carol asks us to imagine ourselves in Elijah’s position with something in our lives we want to escape.  She then leads us through the stages of Elijah’s encounters with God.  (NOTE: Below is a pdf of this evening’s program for viewing and/or downloading.)
