It's Hard to Be Humble

Speakers:Carol Cavin-Dillon
Topics:Children's moment, Sermon, Sunday service

Continuing our series of sermons, “Lessons from the Road,” based on Luke 14-19, in today’s scripture Jesus tells the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector in which the Pharisee is proud of his adherence to the rituals of his religion.  We experience that as we interview for a job or apply for college – we put our best foot forward and tout our experience and qualifications.  The tax collector, on the other hand, throws himself at God’s mercy.  What is the role of humility in our lives?   (NOTE:  Although the video begins with the sermon, once it starts you can scroll back to the beginning of the service if you want.  The video of the entire service is available to watch.  NOTE 2: There was no "Children's Moment" in the second service because of the presentation of the Bibles to third-graders.  For that reason, the audio of the Children's Moment and Sermon is taken from the early service.)
