West End United Methodist Church

Daily Lenten Devotional Practice

In this Lenten season when we seek by grace to live justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God we are inviting our congregation to engage in a shared practice of daily prayer.  We will use Common Prayer: A Liturgy for Ordinary Radicals as a daily devotional resource.  Every day, authors Enuma Okoro, Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove, and Shaine Claiborne will ground our prayers both in the ancient liturgies of the Church as well as in the stories of saints who have embodied lives of justice and mercy.

You can order a physical copy of the book or engage in the practice online at commonprayer.net.

Lent Book Reading

This Lent, we are inviting the congregation to read local author Lindsey Krinks’ (Open Table Nashville) Praying with Our Feet: Pursuing Justice and Healing on the Streets.  We will have a few copies available in the Bowen Library for communal use.  We look forward to learning from a local expert how God is calling us to faithfully seek justice and mercy with and for our city.  Grab your copy and join us on March 6 as Lindsey Krinks joins us for our First Wednesday time together.
