The acolyte ministry at West End is an opportunity for children and youth to lead in our worship services each week. We have acolytes at both services who will carry the light of Christ into the sanctuary and back out into the world. The symbolism of this act reminds believers of Christ’s presence; and by extinguishing the altar candles at the end of the service, acolytes relight their candle lighter and process out reminding believers of Jesus’ call to serve and spread light and love to people everywhere. Kids who are currently in 3rd grade and older are invited to participate. Our next acolyte training session will be November 6.
We will also need adult Acolyte Coordinators. Acolyte Coordinators will help with training and meet the acolytes on Sunday mornings in the narthex, help them get robes and their lighters and send them down the aisle when it's time. We hope to have a handful of coordinators for each service so that people can rotate. If you are interested in helping with the acolytes as a coordinator, email Maggie Jarrell firstname.lastname@example.org.
