Mental Health 101: How to Spot the Signs and Show Support for Loved Ones Struggling with Mental Health

In this interactive presentation on Sunday, May 19 at 4 pm in the 4th Story Theater, retired-board certified Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor, Dr. Tammy Lewis Wilborn will discuss common signs of mental health conditions and offer tips for how to support a loved one struggling to manage their mental health.  


Dr. Tammy Lewis Wilborn is a retired board-certified licensed professional counselor-supervisor with 20+ years of professional experience. Dr. Wilborn previously owned and managed a solo mental health private practice, held faculty appointments at the University of New Orleans and Xavier University of Louisiana, founded the annual Black Women’s Wellness Conference of New Orleans, and is the author of Playing A New Game: A Black Woman’s Guide to Being Well and Thriving in the Workplace. As a mental health and wellness expert and professional keynote speaker, Dr. Wilborn has informed, inspired, and ignited audiences of all types to be well, whole, and free as God intended.
 

Dr. Wilborn holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, a Master of Science in Counseling, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Loyola University of New Orleans. She is also a 2021 graduate of Loyola University of New Orleans’ Women’s Leadership Academy. Dr. Wilborn is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity degree with a concentration in Pastoral and Prophetic Congregational Leadership at Vanderbilt Divinity School and is a Pastoral Intern in the Congregational Care ministry at West End UMC.

 Dr. Wilborn has been married for 14 years to her husband and best friend Juan and is the mother of two adult sons and a 12-year-old son who thinks he’s an adult.
