The Messiah Pt. 1 (Handel) Concert

Topics:Concert

As part of West End’s observation of Advent for 2021, this performance of Part 1 of “The Messiah,” by G. F. Handel is presented by West End’s combined adult choirs (Sanctuary and Chancel Choirs) and orchestra, this part of the whole work being the prophetic predictions of the coming of the messiah and then the story of the announcement to the shepherds in the field.  The choir and orchestra are directed by Matthew Phelps, West End’s Minister of Music.  Andrew Risinger, West End’s Associate Minister of Music and Organist, plays the Moller organ.  The soloists are all members (generally section leaders) of one or both of West End’s adult choirs.  Soloists are Margy Bredemann, Sarah Dunnevant, and Emma Jackson, sopranos; Hollie Dueker, alto; Kyle Collier, tenor; Ben Troxler, bass.  A list of the movements of “The Messiah” and other details such as the names of all choir and orchestra members are in the program, available below as a pdf.
