Sunday Morning Classes
Everyone is welcome to participate in Sunday Morning Classes (aka “Sunday School”) each week at West End UMC! These groups span every stage of life and encompass various points along the spiritual journey. Classes meet at 9:45 a.m. on our campus and online, and we hope you will join us in deepending our relationships with God and one another!
If you are interested in joining a class through Zoom, please contact Andrew Callis for a link at acallis@westendumc.org.
Benton Restoration – Room 318
Primarily comprised of couples in their 30s, our class walks in faith together by digging deeply into biblical and topical studies. We seek connection with other couples at West End UMC while honoring the busyness of one another’s lives. Come as you are and as you are able each Sunday! (Not available online)
Bible and Spirit – Room 320
We are a group of older adults who primarily engage in Bible study. With the guidance of various speakers and presenters, we explore the books of the Bible and examine themes contained in the Bible. We invite anyone into our fold who seeks to deepen their knowledge of and find renewed comfort in the word of God!
Cokesbury – Room 319
Welcome to the Cokesbury Class! We are a vibrant, thoughtful, and welcoming community where faith is lived out, explored, and celebrated together. Each Sunday, we explore faith through a rich and varied curriculum, asking big questions and looking for God in every moment. Whether we’re reflecting on a Bible passage, discussing a short story, or unpacking current events, we make space for laughter, fellowship, and kindness. Our goal is always the same: to grow in faith, deepen our understanding, and support one another on the journey. Visit our website for more information
Cornerstone – Room 323
We are a class of folks aged 50+ who engage in a wide variety of biblical study, discussions, and spiritual development through different topics from current authors, speakers, and theologians. We are an active group that is generally self-led who find support in one another through dialogue and fellowship. All are welcome to join us each Sunday morning.
Discourse and Discovery – Room 306
We are an intergenerational group who aspire to be intentional and supportive in our relationships with one another. Inquisitive, life-long students of the world, we stand for peace and social justice through the lens of our progressive theology and seek projects toward those ends, including being part of the Reconciling Ministries Network of the UMC. We welcome all ages to join us in committing to the spiritual development of ourselves and our discipleship community!
Foundations – Room 310
We are an adult Sunday School class comprised of couples in their thirties and forties who are parents of babies, toddlers, elementary-aged children, and those who are beginning to grow their families. We are on a journey to build lasting relationships with our spouses, our families, and each other through friendship, fellowship, and studying the word of God. Our studies and discussions lean into parenting through Christ and, typically, we choose a book per semester and take turns leading the lessons. We welcome you to join us this year!
Joyriders of the Shared Journey – Room LL2
We are an intergenerational group of adults whose primary focus is worshiping God through studying the Bible, along with secondary devotional guides, and who lean heavily into charity work by living as the hands and feet of Christ. Using the clergy-created study guide that corresponds to our yearly lectionary calendar, members alternate leading discussions each Sunday as we dig deeply into God’s word. With joy, we celebrate God’s presence in our lives through fellowship dinners and potlucks and volunteer in the many Mercy and Justice ministries of the church. Join our joyriders on Sunday mornings to experience the amazing ways God brings us together for God’s glory as we study, pray, and seek to serve God in the world.
Making Room – Room 321
We are an intergeneration group who strive to combine deeper spiritual discussions with lighter, relevant topics, such as Wesleyan hospitality, the Enneagram, etc. through Bible and book studies and Amplify Media. Coming from diverse backgrounds, we celebrate and comfort each other through life’s ups and downs, always enjoying our social gatherings at football games, bonfires, and an annual “camping” retreat to name a few. Join us each Sunday to find a welcoming place among faithful friends! (Not available online)
Mosaic – Room 317
We are a radically inclusive group of young adults who are working through spiritual and theological deconstruction/reconstruction and are committed to walking that faith journey together. With many having experienced various forms of spiritual trauma, we focus on healing dialogue and are part of the Reconciling Ministries Network of the UMC. All are welcome to join us in faith each Sunday morning! (Not available online)
Open Study – Room 307
Class Description: Intergenerational discussion; progressive as it explores faith and contemporary issues while practicing mission and justice.
Saints and Sinners - Room 322
Class Description: Midlife and Mature Adults inviting speakers, from within the Church and without, to address a diverse range of topics.
The Quest – Room 305
We are an intergenerational group who seek a deeper understanding of faith and its meaning in our lives through the exploration of writings on church history, theology, and biblical interpretation. We commit to learning together to build faith, fellowship, and community; to hearing the voices of Christian thinkers so we can better understand our faith tradition
and its impact on the world - for better and for worse; and to wrestling with the complexities of our religious history as it informs us today. All are welcome to join us on Sunday mornings!
If you are interested in starting a new Sunday morning class, please let us know. We are always excited to support new opportunities for spiritual growth.
